Firework Anxiety Tips
It's that time a year again! As we celebrate the New Year people will be setting off fireworks which can cause a great deal of anxiety for your furry friend. So what are the best ways to help your pup during the holiday?
The first and most important thing is to be watchful when you are putting your dog out during the fireworks. This time a year is a very common time to lose your dog. When a dog is scared they may not react the way they typically do and could jump a fence or get out. It is better to be vigilant during the holidays than chance losing your baby. Also make sure your dog is wearing their collar and has tags on it that are up to date in case they were to get out.
My second piece of advice is turn up the tv or radio in order to drown out the sounds of the fireworks. Dogs are used to the noises in your home and won't notice that they are louder tonight. This will help keep them from hearing the loud bangs from outside.
You may also want to consult with your vet about a medication for their anxiety. Benadryl is over the counter and can help a dog remain calm. There are also medications like Alprazolam that can be prescribed to your pet to help with these anxious times.

From everyone at Fido's Bed n Biscuit we hope you have a safe and calm start to your New Year!
